BRIELLE LAYDEN, LMFT
She/Her/Hers

A little about my experience...
I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in both New York and New Jersey. I started my career in 2015 where I worked with client struggling with a wide array of mental health challenges, substance use, navigating the legal system, and housing. While this work was deeply meaningful, I recognized my desire to be able to work with people in a more personalized, relational way. It is this desire that led me to private practice.
What you can expect in therapy with me...
I am an incredibly active and participatory therapist. I love to use visualizations and metaphors to explore emotions, "stuck" points, and examine openings for change. In sessions, I am very casual. I will probably be wearing jeans, drinking coffee, and petting my dog.
How I might be different than other therapists...
As an LMFT, I believe it's important to go backwards in order to go forward. What I mean by this, is that when we look at your family of origin and formative relationships, I help you to identify the ways these experiences continue to shape and influence who you are as an adult. These sessions often produce an "OH..........." moment, where dots are finally connected in ways that make sense.
Our lives are shaped by dominant narratives we've inherited by others that tell us how we should feel, what we should do, and what's acceptable. My goal is to help you unlearn those lies you inherited, and guide you back towards your own internal wisdom.
How I spend outside of the office...
I am a certified Zumba instructor and teach two classes a week. It is an absolute joy. I also love antiquing, getting tattooed, reading, and cuddling with Xev (picture of cute dog shown above).
