BRIELLE LAYDEN, LMFT
She/Her/Hers

A little about my experience...
I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in both New York and New Jersey. I started my career in 2015 where I worked as a therapist at a community agency in NJ, for clients struggling with mental health disorders and substance abuse. It is also through my work in agencies where I obtained experience helping clients recently paroled or on probation. In 2019 I started my journey in private practice, which is how I continue to work!
What you can expect in therapy with me...
I am an incredibly active and participatory therapist. Part of my job is to help redirect unhelpful thoughts, behaviors, and dynamics that arise in session. I also help you to examine how intersecting identities including gender, age, and race coupled with structural systems such as the patriarchy and capitalism affect mental health, safety, stability, and opportunity. It's important to me that I infuse humor into sessions when appropriate, because we all need a laugh now and then....
How I might be different than other therapists...
As an LMFT, I believe it's important to go backwards in order to go forward. What I mean by this, is that when we look at your family of origin and formative relationships, I help you to identify the ways these experiences continue to shape and influence who you are as an adult. These sessions often produce an "OH..........." moment for clients that allow them to connect dots they never have before.
How I spend outside of the office...
I am a certified Zumba instructor and teach two classes a week. It is an absolute joy. I also love antiquing, getting tattooed, reading, and cuddling with Xev (picture of cute dog shown above).
